DNB Ophthalmology Residency Program

DNB Ophthalmology Residency Program is designed to train the next generation of skilled, confident, and compassionate eye specialists. With over four decades of trusted eye care experience, Nandadeep Eye Hospital has emerged as one of Maharashtra’s most respected centres for advanced ophthalmic training. Our DNB program reflects the same commitment to excellence, combining world-class clinical exposure with a supportive learning environment where young doctors can grow and thrive.

At Nandadeep, residents get hands-on experience in all major subspecialties of ophthalmology, including cornea, cataract, retina, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplasty, and refractive surgery. From day one, trainees participate in detailed patient evaluations, diagnostic work-ups, and surgical decision-making under the guidance of experienced consultants. Our hospital performs a large volume of surgeries every year, ensuring that DNB residents receive extensive surgical exposure and gain confidence in performing independent procedures by the end of their training.

A key strength of the Nandadeep DNB program is the mentorship-based learning model. Every resident works closely with highly qualified and approachable faculty members who are dedicated to teaching. Regular academic activities such as case presentations, journal clubs, grand rounds, surgical discussions, and audits form an integral part of the curriculum. Along with this, residents are also encouraged to take part in research projects, conferences, and paper presentations to strengthen their academic profile.

The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technologies, including advanced imaging systems, femto-laser platforms, high-end phaco machines, OCT, visual fields, topography, and specialized pediatric and retina units. This ensures that residents are well trained not only in clinical evaluation but also in handling the latest ophthalmic equipment. The structured training program follows the National Board of Examinations (NBE) guidelines, ensuring that residents develop strong theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, and surgical competence.

Beyond academics and surgery, Nandadeep places importance on teamwork, patient communication, ethics, and empathy—qualities that help shape well-rounded ophthalmologists. The hospital’s patient base includes individuals from urban, rural, and tribal areas, offering residents valuable experience in understanding diverse eye care needs.

By the end of the residency, doctors who train at Nandadeep become confident, capable, and independent practitioners ready to excel in clinical practice, pursue fellowships, or take up academic roles. The Nandadeep DNB Ophthalmology Residency Program is not just a training course—it is a transformative journey that prepares young doctors for a successful and fulfilling career in eye care.
