foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] second episode was understanding your dryness the qualitative and quantitative terms now I will help you to understand what test we do whether to categorize you into mild moderate severe or very severe dryness so like I have spoken before the quantity and the quality of your tears so one major test which almost every uh every of thermologists do to know your dry eyes is the Sharma stress this is a kind of a Sharma strips so this is a strip it has some marking we put this strip into your eyes remember this is completely painless procedure so you need not to worry about it and this procedure is done in two to three types it will be completely decided by your ophthalmologist how to do this test this strip has some markings around 35 markings depending upon how much strip is getting weighed by your tears we categorize you into different types of dryness so if strip is weight less than 5 mm it is a really severe kind of dry eye 5 to 10 mm moderate 10 to 15 mm mild and more than 15 it’s in the normal range still in some patient even if it is more than 15 but if other tests are telling something about your dry eyes it is your clinician who will decide the type of treatment for you another test where we will use one more Strip This is a kind of a fluorescent strip so it has some staining part now you see this strip as a orange but we see this in the blue light filter so overall the color in your eyes will become something like a greenish you need not to worry for this test again this is again a painless procedure then what this does this will help us to know whether there are dry spots on your cornea what is the quality of surface of your eyes which will help us to guide our treatment another important test like I have told you in my second episode the quality of your glands which are there into your leaves so we see these glands under our slit lamp also and there is a machine called megoscopy which will is that how much your glands are blocked so it will be kind of a picture which you can see in this picture and according to the damaged glands and how much they are blocked we categorize you in mild moderate severe a very recipient that is grade 1 2 3 4 in grade three and four there will be loss of your glass in the normal patient we see nice straight lines in your glands but once they are blocked they become thick lines and the wavy lines and more blockage will cause loss of gland which appears like a black spots in the mesoscopy there are more tests like a tear osmolarity tier film breakup time everything will be decided by your clinician which tends to do first which test to wait and there are few tests which are of our academic interest so this is a video to make you aware that that what test will be done for you to evaluate your dry eyes and you should not feel afraid to go to your ophthalmologist and get evaluated for your dry ice because in the end we are there to help you and it will help us to categorize your treatment and give you the best clinical judgment thank you
