Dr. Nidhi Patwardhan from Nandadeep Eye Hospital is leading a new Clinical Research study to understand how prolonged Digital Screen use is affecting the eyes of young adults. With the growing use of smartphones, laptops, and tablets, complaints of Dry Eyes, eye strain, irritation, redness, blurred vision, and tired eyes are becoming increasingly common among younger individuals.

The study will focus on participants aged 16 to 28 years and will examine how extended screen exposure impacts the ocular surface and Meibomian Glands, which are essential for maintaining healthy tears and eye comfort. Researchers will also evaluate blinking patterns during screen use, as reduced blinking is believed to contribute significantly to dry eye symptoms.

Using Advanced Imaging Techniques such as meibography, the research aims to identify early changes in the meibomian glands and better understand the link between digital screen habits and Dry Eye disease. The study reflects Dr. Nidhi Patwardhan’s commitment to advancing eye care research and promoting awareness about digital eye health among young adults.
